For Authors

The notebook for art, theory and related zones is a periodical focussing on contemporary visual arts in a broader cultural and theoretical context. The Notebook’s aim is to cultivate Czech reflection on art by printing texts written by specialists in the area of the humanities and social sciences that thematicize the current situation in art and today’s culture in the Czech Republic and abroad. The Notebook is open access (print version and delayed open acces term is 12month), free of submitting charges. It is not in principle methodologically defined; the decisive criteria are quality, level of stimulation and relevance for reflection upon contemporary visual art and its theory.

Reviewing procedures

Original studies subject to an anonymous review. Each text is always given to two specialists in the related area for evaluation. Their evaluation helps the editors decide whether to accept the offered text for publication or to return it to the author. Reviews are internal works of the magazine’s editors and are archived at the AVU Research Centre.

Instructions for authors

The original studies are submitted electronically on sesit.redakce@gmail.com to the magazine’s editors in the range of 15-25 pages (1800 characters including spaces) and in the DOC format. For reviews the number of pages is expected to be about 10 pages.

A text must contain the following:

title of the study in Czech and English
English summary (approx. 1,500 characters), Czech summary if a text is submitted in a foreign language
at least four key words in Czech and English
the author’s contact data (address, email, or website as the case may be)

Contributions sent in cannot have already been reviewed (or in a peer-review process) in another magazine and must not concern a text printed elsewhere or its translation. Contributions are considered delivered if you receive confirmation of their reception (may takes about 14 days), unsolicited manuscripts are not returned.
