Utopien & Konflikte. Dokumente und Manifeste zur Tschechischen Kunst 1938–1989

The German edition of the revised and complemented anthology Czech Art 1938–1989.

Based on the cooperation between VVP AVU and ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe the revised and complemented edition of the anthology of theoretical texts to Czech art between 1938 and 1989 issued in German language in the publishing house Hatje Cantz with the title Utopien & Konflikte. Dokumente und Manifeste zur Tschechischen Kunst 1938-1989 [Utopia & Conflicts. Documents and Manifestos to Czech Art 1938-1989]. We hope to consider this anthology as an important source for awareness of Czech art and culture of the post-war period for both the expert and lay public. It is original and undoubtedly the first expert publication of its kind and will contribute to the inclusion of Czech art of the second half of the 20th century into an international context.

This publication was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, DIE ERSTE österreichische Spar-Casse Privatstiftung and Czech Press Agency ČTK.
