Mgr. Dagmar Svatošová

Dagmar Svatošová studied the History of Art at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, where she received her master’s degree in 1999. Since 2000, she has been working as an independent researcher at the AVU Academic Research Centre (VVP AVU). She specialises in Czech art of the second half of the 20th century, especially the methodology and theory of contemporary art history. She has participated in several long-term research projects at VVP AVU focusing on Czech post-war art. In 2020, she co-authored the book Výstava jako médium. České umění 1957–1999, which was the result of five years of research into Czech exhibition history. She was also the co-editor of the anthology České umění 1939–1989. Programy, kritické texty, dokumenty (Academia, 2001), České umění 1980–2010. Texty a dokumenty (VVP AVU, 2012), the collective catalogue Karel Malich, Dráty (VVP AVU, 2005), et al. She is a member of the editorial board of the Notebook for Art, Theory and Related Zones, a peer-reviewed periodical focusing on contemporary visual arts within a broader cultural and theoretical context. Since 2016, she has been editor-in-chief of AVU Publishing.
